Why Did We Start Home Pet Nurse?

VetGo was created from a love and respect for Canadian veterinary practices and their teams.

Kevin and I have spent most of our careers working in or supporting Canadian veterinary practices in various ways. At this stage in our lives, we wanted to find a way that we could combine our business knowledge and clinic experience to create a way to make an impact in the lives of vet teams, pet owners, and pets themselves.

VetGo is designed to provide support to veterinary practices wherever they need a bit of extra help. Answering phones? Responding to emails? Project work like heartworm/parasitology reminders? HR support like conflict resolution or recruitment? Marketing support with a digital platform or social strategy? VetGo can help.

VetGo’s team is made up of highly trained veterinary professionals. Their wealth of experience means they can hit the ground running, supporting a veterinary practice as a seamless extension of the clinic’s team.

Home Pet Nurse (HPN) is an expansion of VetGo’s mission. How can we further support practices, veterinary team members, pet owners and their pets?

We know that despite all the efforts of the caring veterinary team, some patients just do NOT do well with clinic visits. From the stress of the car ride, to the anxiety around other animals in the waiting room, by the time they are in the exam room they’re nearly unmanageable.

We know that some owners struggle to get into the veterinary clinic. Some don’t drive, or don’t have work schedules that align with their clinic’s schedule. Some have difficulty managing their anxious pet.

We know that the basic procedures of giving medication or trimming nails are simply impossible for some owners.

We know that clinics are often overbooked and overly busy. Patients are fit in as double-booked appointments and techs are skipping their lunch hour to get radiographs done, nevermind being able to fit in a nail trim.

This is where a HPN can help. VetGo has a team of highly trained, experienced RVTs who are a seamless extension of the clinic's team. They can make house calls to check bandages, trim nails, administer meds, do fluid therapy - whenever the veterinary practice’s recommendations or the pet’s needs are something the owner can’t manage on their own.

Just like VetGo’s team can take the pressure off the clinic with emails, phone calls, and callbacks, our HPN team can take the pressure off with those simple visits that are important but don’t need to be done within the clinic walls.
